High school students made MySpace what it is. They (we) flocked from Friendster to MySpace and seemingly overnight created a major internet/social networking power. I remember hearing the whispers in the hallway about this thing called MySpace about 1.5 years ago. Only a few months ago has it hit mainstream.
Big news: MySpace is now "out." People are flocking to Facebook’s high school edition. This is partly because everything is about what’s "in" versus "out," but it’s also because of Facebook’s superior photo sharing technology.
In 6 months you’ll hear about MySpace losing membership in popular press. You heard it here…from the high school hallways…first.
you are right. myspace’s days are numbered. there are a lot of competitor sites out there such as facebook, friendster, tagworld, friendcircles, and even mytrendspot.com
This transition is just barely kicking in around these ‘ere parts. Facebook, eh? Thanks for the heraldry.
That’s great for high school students, but there are plenty of folks above school age that are going to continue to grow MySpace. MySpace will be a significant marketplace for some time. Although I do agree MySpace is a poor format and it will be various social networks, such as Facebook high school edition, that will erode MySpace’s market share. There next big trend will be about exclusivity, which is what attracts high schoolers to Facebook. No creepy old guys hitting on you and place where high school guys have a chance. 😉
