Dana Rohrabacher, an ultra-conservative against immigration, argues that prisoners can do the jobs vacated by deported immigrants:
"I say, let the prisoners pick the fruits."
This is so mind-bogglingly brilliant that I can’t even wrap my head around it. My only concern is that I’m not sure I want convicted felons picking my bananas. Anyone agree?
Thanks to our world-leading imprisonment rates, the US can be the market leader in felon labor. Outsource that!
Ben: We all know, or so conservatives keep telling us, that immigrants are criminally inclined. So what’s the big deal with replacing immigrants with former felons? My only concern would be, since so many convicted felons have drug problems, that they would get the munchies and eat all the fruit before it reaches market. Now that’s something we should really be concerned about.
